If your taste in Halloween costumes runs a little theatrical, has the Goodman Theatre got a sales event for you.

The theater has delved into its backstage vaults and is hosting a costume sale on Oct. 11, offering up clothing items, props, jewelry, wigs, footwear and other supplies and accessories from productions on its stages spanning some 60 years.

That includes such gems as Crumpet’s Elf costume from “The Santaland Diaries,” starring Matt Crowle in 2018, and a beaded, corseted red showgirl dress worn by Rachel York in “Turn of the Century” in the musical’s 2008 world premiere, directed by Tommy Tune. According to an announcement from the theater, there will be dozens of items in all — some perhaps more valuable as pieces of Chicago theater history than an outfit for your Halloween party.

According to the Goodman, many of the items were designed by costume designer Ana Kuzmanic; the last time the theater put on a costume sale like this was in 2018. Prices will range from 50 cents to $300, with only credit and debit cards accepted, all sales are final and customers are asked to bring their own shopping bags. Funds raised from the sale support the theater.

This fall season marks the theater’s 100th anniversary.
