Samuel Careaga drilled home a strike from the top of the box in the 51st minute, and Hartford Athletic held on for a 1-0 win over Sacramento Republic FC to take home the Jagermeister Cup trophy on Saturday night.
The win gave the club its first-ever trophy.
Careaga’s goal came on a clever finish off a rebound from a corner kick from Sebastian Anderson. Anderson delivered the assist, with a short pass outside the box to where Careaga met it. He guided the ball home with a nifty finish from distance.
