The Department of Business and Professional Regulation shut down two Central Florida restaurants for health code violations during the week from Nov. 16-22.
Lake
Perkins Restaurant and Bakery 1242 at 905 Bichara Blvd. in Lady Lake shut down on Nov. 19. There was only one violation, a high priority for roach activity. A second inspection took place on the same day. There were no violations, and the restaurant met inspection standards.
Orange
China Buffet at 8255 International Dr., Suite 124, in Orlando shut down on Nov. 20. There were 31 violations, six of which were high priorities. Those violations included dented cans, food stored on ice used for drinks, raw food not separated from ready-to-eat food and a stop-sale on food due to it not being in a wholesome condition. A second inspection took place the same day. There were 17 violations, two of which were high priorities for raw food not being separated from ready-to-eat food and a sanitizing solution that exceeded the maximum concentration allowed. Both received time extensions. A follow-up inspection is required but the restaurant reopened with those violations deemed no threat to the public.
Total Inspections
Among all inspections across Central Florida, there were 3,152 violations total, including basic, intermediate and high violations.
Orange County had the most with 1,288, followed by Volusia with 538, Brevard with 462, Seminole with 324, Lake with 278 and Osceola with 262.
