Will Findlay ran the Comets’ offense, allowing Gabe Sol, Andrew Parker and Alijah Lamp to each record over 10 kills. Davis Mendoza led defensively with 31 digs. Granby plays Indian River on Saturday in the Class 5 state tournament, while the Raiders challenge Kempsville.

Class 5 Region B championship
No. 3 Menchville d. No. 1 Maury, 3-0

The Monarchs defeated the previously unbeaten Commodores in straight sets to win the Class 5 Region B title. Caroline Clements and Jordein Holder led with 11 kills each. Emma Wade provided 34 assists, while Kamryn Eccleston added 13 digs. Menchville (19-4) faces Region 5A runner-up Ocean Lakes in the Class 5 state tournament on Saturday, and Maury (20-1) meets 5A champion Kellam.
Class 2 Region A championship
No. 2 Poquoson d. No. 1 Amelia County, 3-1
(14-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-18)
The Islanders were led by Emma Ward with 36 assists, 11 digs, seven aces and two kills. Peyton Ashworth tallied 16 kills, four aces and 15 digs, while Sierra Morse finished with 25 digs. Sydney Stewart and Chloe Dearman combined for 14 kills, three aces and 25 digs.
