The Grizzlies won a thriller in Northern Virginia to reach a semifinal Tuesday at Region B champion Woodson, in Fairfax. Andrew Burke led Grassfield with 20 kills, and Caedan Agustin had 35 assists. Grassfield was the only region runner-up to advance to the Class 6 semifinals.

Trent Beeson had 15 kills and Ryland Patterson had 11 for the Chiefs, who earned a semifinal home match Tuesday against Glen Allen. Wyatt Strawbridge and Will Laezon combined for 13 kills, and Thein Tran had three aces and eight digs.

By downing the Braves, the host Comets advanced to a semifinal Tuesday against Kellam. Alijah Lamp and Andrew Parker led Granby’s offense with 15 kills each, and Davis Mendoza made 32 digs.

The Knights rallied for a victory in Virginia Beach behind Nathan Pyka’s 27 kills. Dylan Calkins had 14 kills, Bennett Pyka had 41 assists and 14 digs, and Cooper Melby had eight blocks.

Maggie Walker d. Heritage, 3-1

The Dragons from Richmond eliminated the Eastern Section champion Hurricanes in Newport News. Maggie Walker will travel to meet Denbigh or Atlee in a semifinal Tuesday.

Mia Schmidt added six kills. The defense was led by libero Giulia Allison and Sophie Barnes with 11 digs each. Emmie Irving had 20 assists and four aces.
