The Islanders rallied from an early deficit to defeat York 27-6 in a Bay Rivers District game Friday at Bailey Field.
York took an early lead when Logan Turner returned an interception for a touchdown, but the Islanders’ defense pitched a shutout. Poquoson’s defense scored its first points, on a safety, to close the gap to 6-2.
Heath Reynolds and Cody Little scored on touchdown runs as the Islanders led 15-6 at halftime. Second-half touchdown runs by Little and Owen Cupp gave the Islanders a comfortable victory margin.
“We played well,” Poquoson coach Elliott Duty said. “We moved the ball, found our groove defensively and played physically.”
