Caedan Agustin had 35 assists, breaking 1,500 for his career, as the Grizzlies secured a state tourney bid. Isaiah Agustin and Andrew Burke combined for 28 kills.

#4 Gloucester d. #1 Denbigh, 3-1

(19-25, 25-18, 25-15, 36-34)

William Trueblood had 20 blocks and 16 kills, and Grayson Shield had 53 assists and 11 blocks in a match of state qualifiers. Hayden Simmons and Ryan Williams each had 18 kills, and Tabb Hogge added 20 digs for the Dukes. Gloucester will play in the section final at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Grafton’s gym against an opponent to be named. Denbigh will play for third place at 4 p.m. Tuesday on Grafton’s floor against a foe to be announced.

Kenzie Smith had 16 kills and two blocks for the unbeaten Clippers. Sisters Ana and Alivia Breckons combined for 15 kills and four aces for Grafton, which clinched a return to the state tourney. Olivia De La Cruz had 17 assists and seven aces, while Ally Burke had 17 digs and two aces.

By ousting the Phantoms, the Eagles earned a spot in the region title match at Grafton at 8 p.m. Tuesday and ensured a place in the state quarterfinals.

The Cougars advanced by beating the Titans in a Richmond-area clash. They’ll be at home for Saturday’s championship match against Potomac School.

With three doubles victories and two singles triumphs, the Northern Virginia squad prevailed in a shutout to reach the final.

VISAA Division II semifinals

#1 Cape Henry Collegiate 5, #4 North Cross 2

Lauren Yue and Lilah Shoemaker saved two match points at No. 1 doubles for a 9-8 (7-4) victory, giving the host Dolphins a 2-1 lead over the Raiders of Roanoke in Virginia Beach. Mary Burke and Sydney Murphy won earlier for Cape Henry on doubles line 2. Cape Henry continued the momentum to singles, where No. 4 Avery Jane Demuth, No. 3 Cora Timms and No. 5 Shoemaker prevailed. Shoemaker won the clinching match 8-2. Cape Henry will play at home in Saturday’s final against St. Anne’s-Belfield of Charlottesville.

The defending champion Saints won at home over their boarding-school opponents from Middleburg.
