House Speaker Don Scott reelected to District 88 seat

Virginia House Speaker and incumbent Del. Don Scott secured another two-year term following Tuesday’s election.

Scott was uncontested in his bid for Virginia House of Delegates District 88, which encompasses a large swath of Portsmouth. Scott was elected delegate in 2020, and made history in 2024 after being elected the first Black Virginia House Speaker.

In unofficial results, the Associated Press called the race when Virginia polls closed at 7 p.m.

“My top priority is to protect Virginians’ rights by advancing constitutional amendments enshrining reproductive rights, marriage equality and restoring rights for individuals who have completed their sentences in our Constitution,” Scott wrote before Tuesday’s election.
