Human trafficking investigation in CT leads to 7 arrests, 3 minors being reunited with families

Seven people face kidnapping, sexual assault and related charges in connection with a human trafficking investigation in Hartford involving three minor victims.

The investigation was initiated in May after authorities received reports of human trafficking, which led to authorities identifying three girls who were safely recovered and ultimately returned to their families, Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department said in a news release Wednesday.

Boisvert said the investigation involved the department’s Special Investigations Division and assistance from the Regionalized Human Trafficking Recovery Task Force.

Authorities have arrested seven people in connection with the operation after obtaining warrants for them, according to Boisvert. Police are still investigating and expect to make additional arrests.

Those who were arrested include:

Ahmad Compton, 36, of Hartford who faces three counts each of trafficking in persons, first-degree sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping, risk of injury to a minor and illegal sexual contact with a minor.

James Williams, 35, of Hartford who has been charged with one count of criminal attempted first-degree sex assault and three counts each of trafficking in persons, first-degree sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping, risk of injury to a minor and illegal sexual contact with a minor.

Bernard Mickens, 38, of Hartford who faces three counts each of first-degree kidnapping and risk of injury to a minor and a single count each of commercial sexual abuse of a minor, first-degree sexual assault, unlawful restraint and illegal sexual contact with a minor.

Raheem Jones, 50, of no certain address who has been charged with one count of first-degree hindering prosecution and three counts each of trafficking in persons, first-degree kidnapping and risk of injury to a minor.

Donovan Dun of Hartford who was apprehended in Port Charlotte, Florida and was held as fugitive from justice pending extradition to Connecticut. He faces three counts of risk of injury minor, two counts each of third-degree sexual assault, promoting a minor in an obscene performance, employing a minor in obscene performance and first-degree possession of child sexual abuse materials and a single count each of trafficking in persons, first-degree sexual assault, enticing a minor, second-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful restraint and illegal sexual contact with a minor.
