Hurricanes enter SMU game relatively healthy, but Mustangs are banged up

The No. 10 Hurricanes enter their matchup with SMU on Saturday fairly healthy, according to Miami’s Thursday availability report.

Miami did not list anybody new as out or questionable for Saturday’s game. Defensive end Akheem Mesidor, who missed last week’s game against Stanford with a foot injury, was not listed on the report.

The Mustangs listed several key players on their injury report. Starting cornerback Jaelyn Davis-Robinson is out for the game after missing SMU’s game against Wake Forest last week..

Quarterback Kevin Jennings was listed as probable, as was leading wide receiver — and former Hurricane — Romello Brinson. Also listed as probable are key players like defensive lineman Jeffrey M’ba, wide receiver Jordan Hudson, tight end R.J. Maryland and defensive lineman Terry Webb, among others.

SMU also listed several players as questionable, including former UM running back Chris Johnson Jr., tight end Matthew Hibner and defensive lineman Cameron Robertson.

The ACC is now mandating its football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball teams report which players are available prior to each conference game. Football teams are required to submit an initial report two days before the game, an updated report one day before the game and a game day report no later than two hours before the game starts. Teams “must act in good faith to comply with this policy,” according to the conference.

The conference mandates teams announce which players meet certain designations.

-Available: Available to play

-Probable: likely to play or greater than 50 percent chance to play

-Questionable: uncertain to play or less than 50 percent chance to play

-Out: will not play or 0 percent chance to play

On game day reports, players can be listed as available, “game time decision” or out.
