CORAL GABLES — The Hurricanes have some key players dealing with injuries after two games this season.
Wide receiver Jojo Trader, running back Jordan Lyle and defensive lineman Armondo Blount were three of the few Miami players who did not get on the field in the Hurricanes’ blowout win over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday.
Fortunately for No. 5 Miami, all three are expected back this weekend against No. 18 South Florida.
“I expect Jojo, Lyle and Blount (to play),” Cristobal said.
Trader played nine snaps in the season-opener before sitting out against Bethune-Cookman. Lyle played 10 snaps, and Blount played 26.
The Hurricanes were also without four-star freshman Hayden Lowe, who was among the top freshmen in spring camp. Cristobal said Monday that Lowe will miss the whole season. Lowe has not played this season.
“His injury’s a little bit more significant than we thought,” Lowe said. “So he’ll come back strong. He’ll be ready for spring football.”
Lowe was the Hurricanes’ top-ranked prospect in the 2025 recruiting class.
“That guy’s got an unbelievable future, tremendous upside,” Cristobal said.
