Hurricanes move up in in AP poll after beating USF; FSU approaches top five

The Miami Hurricanes picked up their second ranked win on the season with a victory over USF on Saturday, and it helped them in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.

Miami moved up to No. 4 in this week’s AP poll after being ranked fifth the last two weeks. Florida State moved up three spots to No. 7 this week, and USF dropped out of the rankings after being ranked 18th last week.

The Hurricanes are No. 6 in the USA Today coaches poll, and No. 6 (with one first-place vote) in the FWAA-NFF Super 16.

The Hurricanes also received three first-place votes in this week’s AP poll. Miami’s No. 4 ranking matches its highest ranking last year.

As it stands now, the Hurricanes have only one ranked opponent on the schedule: Florida State. Miami faces FSU on Oct. 4 in Tallahassee.

The ACC has only one other ranked team in this week’s rankings: No. 18 Georgia Tech, which beat Clemson on Saturday. Louisville, Clemson, SMU and NC State also received votes.
