Hurricanes move up to No. 2 in AP poll, poised for top-10 matchup with rival FSU

The Hurricanes moved up to No. 2 in the nation in this week’s AP poll after beating Florida, and they have a looming top-10 matchup after their bye week.

Miami moved up two spots, securing its highest ranking since Nov. 19, 2017. UM stayed at No. 6 in the USA Today coaches poll but moved up to No. 5 in the FWAA-NFF Super 16, receiving one first-place vote.

The Hurricanes’ biggest rival, Florida State, moved down one spot to No. 7 in the rankings after routing Kent State at home on Saturday.

FSU plays Virginia next week before hosting Miami on Oct. 4. That is the only ranked game currently on the Hurricanes’ schedule.
