CHESAPEAKE — A juvenile will face felony charges after the stolen vehicle he was suspected of driving crashed into a vehicle Sunday morning following a short police chase and wrong-way driving.
Around 9:06 a.m., police officers responded to the area of Kempsville Road and Greenbrier Parkway for a report of a stolen vehicle, according to a release. Officers found the suspect vehicle in a shopping center parking lot in the 1300 block of Greenbrier Parkway, police said. That’s the location of Greenbrier Market Center, which includes Target, Raising Cane’s and Harris Teeter.
Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled southbound on Greenbrier Parkway, police said. The suspect then entered the northbound lanes while continuing southbound near Greenbrier Middle School. Officers stopped the chase at that point, according to the release.
The suspect vehicle hit a motorist in the 1000 block of Greenbrier Parkway and fled on foot, but was taken into custody a short time later, police said.
The man who was driving the vehicle the suspect hit was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. A female juvenile passenger in the suspect’s vehicle was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to police.
The juvenile suspect will face multiple felony charges when he is released from the hospital, where he was sent with injuries not considered to be life-threatening, police said.
Police said the incident is under investigation and no other information has been released.
