A cold front is expected to bring cooler, drier weather over the Labor Day weekend in the Lehigh Valley.
Highs in the 70s are expected over the next several days, with Monday expected to be the warmest, with an anticipated high of 80, according to the National Weather Service. Lows will dip into the mid- to low 50s. Saturday night is expected to be the coolest, with a low of 50.
No rain is in the forecast for the duration of the Allentown Fair, which is scheduled to run through the holiday.
The cooler temperatures expected this weekend continue the departure from normal the Lehigh Valley has experienced over the past several days.
The last day to reach more than 90 in the region was Aug. 17, which had a recorded high of 92, according to National Weather Service data. Highs have largely been in the 70s, and once in the 60s, since. Additionally lows have been cooler since then, with lows mainly in the 50s.
The normal high for this time of year is about 85, and the low is about 63, weather service data states.
Rainfall this month is also below normal. So far, 1.6 inches of rain have fallen, which is about 2.4 inches below normal.
There is a slight chance of showers Thursday night, but otherwise the weekend, and the days following, are expected to be cooler and drier.
