Large fire breaks out at Bucks County scrap yard, drawing massive response

Multiple fire companies are battling a blaze Wednesday afternoon at a scrap yard in Bucks County.

The fire at 611 Metals, a scrap metal recycling facility at 6776 Easton Road in Bedminster Township, broke out around noon, according to Bucks County emergency radio reports.

In a post on its Facebook page, the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company, asked residents to avoid the area. Route 611 in the area is closed.

“No hazmat has been declared at this time, but residents and travelers who see or smell smoke or fumes are advised to take health precautions, including staying indoors, keeping windows closed, and limiting outdoor activity,” the department advised.

More than a dozen fire departments responded to the blaze, NorthPennNow.com reported. Photos shared to social media showed a large plume of smoke billowing into the sky.

The fire was brought under control around 2:30 p.m., Plumstead Volunteer Fire Co. Chief Marc Longo told PhillyBurbs.com.

The scrap yard is just south of the Pipersville area.

On its website, 611 Metals describes itself as ‘a full service scrap metal and electronics recycling company.” It has a second location in Willow Gove.
