Last regular season Super 16 Coaches Poll: Edgewater rules 8 straight weeks

Unbeaten Edgewater (10-0) remained at No. 1 in the final regular-season Sentinel Super 16 Coaches Poll, sitting in the top spot for the eighth consecutive week. The Eagles received 13 No. 1 votes, with DeLand and The First Academy receiving the other two from the 15 voting coaches.

Jones (8-2) remained No. 2, while undefeated DeLand (9-0), which still has one game remaining at Spruce Creek on Tuesday for the Class 7A, District 2 championship, moved up two spots to No. 3.

Week 11 Football Rewind: TFA stuns Lakeland; Lake Mary spoils Bishop Moore party

DeLand, previously No. 5, jumped past previous Nos. 3 and 4 Bishop Moore (9-1) and Boone (9-1), who both lost in their regular-season finales to Lake Mary (42-22) and Edgewater (28-7).

Lake Mary (7-3) moved up three spots to No. 7. Boone dropped to No. 6, while Bishop Moore fell to No. 8.  West Orange (9-1) moved up from No. 8 to No. 4 following a victory over then-No. 7 Dr. Phillips 28-19. DP (7-3) fell to No. 10.

The First Academy (5-5) moved up one spot to No. 5 following a double-overtime win over Lakeland, while Oviedo (8-2) remained at No. 9.

All teams will now await the announcement of the FHSAA state playoff brackets, which will be revealed Thursday at noon on the FHSAA’s YouTube channel.

TFA is still awaiting a court decision about its status after parents of the TFA players filed an injunction, through Heitner Legal of Fort Lauderdale, to have a playoff ban lifted. TFA was placed on a two-year playoff ban last year after an FHSAA investigation revealed that several TFA players were allowed to participate in team activities prior to being enrolled in the school.
