Here is a roundup of Friday night’s top Lehigh Valley high school football games in Week 3.
Easton 44, Erasmus Hall (NY) 32
In the first quarter, Erasmus Hall went 90 yards in 7 plays, capped off by quarterback Kendu Brown going 19 yards untouched for a touchdown. The Dutchmen led 6-0 with 4:44 left. In the second quarter, Brown threw his first TD of the game, this one a 40-yarder to Justus Murray to make it 12-0. Erasmus Hall’s defense picked off Easton quarterback Cole Ordway, but Ordway answered later in the second. Ordway threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Zack Martenis to put the score at 12-7. After an Easton interception, Ordway kept it himself and took it 12 yards to give the Red Rovers their first lead of the day, 13-12. However, Erasmus Hall took a 19-13 lead as the first half ended when Brown threw another touchdown, this one to Amani Cespdes.
In the second half, Ordway made a big play early, breaking free to the right and took it 57 yards to the house, putting the Red Rovers up 20-19. Erasmus Hall retook the lead as Brown threw his third touchdown of the night, a 13-yard score to Obi Nwguo.
The game was 25-20 Erasmus Hall heading into the fourth but Easton retook the lead on another touchdown run by Ordway, this one from 18 yards out. Noah Borluca’s extra point gave Easton a 27-25 lead with 11:05 left to play. Tristen Dees gave the Red Rovers a 34-25 lead on a 35-yard score. This game continued to go back and forth, as Justus Murray took the ensuing kickoff back for a touchdown to make it 37-32. Easton fans could breathe easy after Ordway’s fourth rushing touchdown sealed the game. This one was a 70-yard run, and the Red Rovers moved to 3-0.
Parkland 38, Northampton 27
Parkland took the lead as Finn Coen threw a perfect 20-yard touchdown pass to Blake Nassary. Nassary got his feet perfectly in bounds and the Trojans led 7-0. The Konkrete Kids tied the game at 7 as Joey High caught a pass from Gavin Taff and took it 15 yards into the end zone. Parkland retook the lead at 14-7 as TJ Lawrence took a toss 12 yards to the end zone.
Northampton answered again, and it was the connection from Taff to High again. Taff dropped it in a bucket to High down the middle of the field. The game continued to go back and forth, and Parkland hit a massive play to retake the lead. Finn Coen hit Nassim Adams on a short pass and Adams did the rest, taking it 72 yards to the end zone. Adams continued to make plays, and gave Parkland a 28-14 lead after catching a 21-yard touchdown pass. Lawrence scored his second touchdown of the night, this one on an 11-yard pass to put Parkland up 35-14. Keegan Hackett pulled Northampton within 14 with a one-yard touchdown run and then Zander Rickert cut the lead to 8 on a nine-yard run. Parkland kicker Greyson Dancsecs made it 38-27 Parkland with a short field goal.
Palmerton 19, Saucon Valley 6
Braden Rohn found Isaiah McNally for a massive 89-yard touchdown to give Saucon Valley an early 6-0 lead. Palmerton tied it up at 6 after T.K. Gursky scored from 17 yards out. Gursky gave the Bombers a 12-6 lead before the half when he found Ben Negley for a touchdown. In the second half, neither team was able to score in the third and they went into the fourth still at 12-6. In the fourth, Gurksy’s third touchdown of the game, this one a 32-yard score to Alex Keiper, made it 19-6. Palmerton’s defense would hold strong the rest of the game, and the Bombers won 19-6.
