Lehigh Valley high school football roundup: Northwestern Lehigh edges Blue Mountain

Here is a roundup of Friday night’s top Lehigh Valley high school football games in Week 4.

Northwestern Lehigh 34, Blue Mountain 28

Northwestern Lehigh struck first as running back Brady Zimmerman scored from one yard out to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead. Later in the first, Blue Mountain’s Chase Guers took a punt back 70 yards to tie the game at 7. Northwestern went up 14-7 after a Shane Leh 26-yard touchdown pass to Mason Bollinger. Blue Mountain’s Cohen Kirby answered by throwing a 66-yard touchdown pass to Kole Luckenbill to tie the game at 14. Leh then threw another touchdown, this one to Zimmerman, but Reese Miller tied the game at 21 after a seven-yard touchdown run. Before halftime, Northwestern took a 28-21 lead when Shane Hulmes took a direct snap from the wildcat and punched it in. In the second half, Northwestern extended its lead to 34-21 on a 67-yard touchdown run from Zimmerman. Blue Mountain cut the lead to 34-28 when Frankie Russo scored from nine yards out. The Tigers’ defense came up big the rest of the night and secured the win.

Southern Lehigh 34, North Schuylkill 14

Southern Lehigh scored first as Sean Steckert scored from 27 yards out to make it 7-0. FRge Spartans extended their lead to 14-0 by going 62 yards in 8 plays, capped off by Colton Sams to Otto Young. North Schuylkill answered as Luke Miller went 50 yards for touchdown on final play of first quarter and after a 2-point conversion, it was 14-8. Southern Lehigh’s offense continued to play well, and Steckert’s second touchdown of the night made it 21-8. In the second half, Southern Lehigh went up 27-8 as Sams found Daniel Rowan for a 46-yard touchdown. North Schuylkill cut the lead to 27-14 after an 18-yard run by Caden Mengel. The game remained 27-14 heading into the fourth quarter, and Steckert added his third touchdown of the night, making it 34-14.

Emmaus 48, Stroudsburg 10

Emmaus took a 7-0 lead after running back Jay Santos took it to the house on a 28-yard touchdown run. Stroudsburg had a chance to tie the game but got stuffed on the three-yard line and settled for a field goal from Hunter Fuller to make it 7-3. On the next drive Emmaus scored a touchdown but it got called back due to an illegal block. The Green Hornets kicked a field goal that hit off the upright to keep it at 7-3 at the end of the first. Emmaus scored another touchdown that got called back but then Anthony Attar ran it in to make it 13-3. Stroudsburg cut the lead to 13-10 as Jackson Mitchell found Keyen Johnson on a dump pass, and he took it 25 yards to the end zone. Emmaus extended its lead to 20-10 as Jay Santos scored a five-yard rushing TD. Stroudsburg fumbled and Emmaus’ Anthony Attar recovered it and took it 89 yards for the scoop and score to make it 27-10. The Green Hornets extended the lead to 41-10 with two touchdown passes. With three minutes left, Emmaus added one more score, a Jaden Garcia rushing touchdown.

Lehighton 35, Palmerton 0

Lehighton went up 8-0 on a Ryder Croizier 65-yard touchdown run. The Indians extended the lead with another long touchdown run, this one a 60-yard score from Caden Meek. Lehighton went up 22-0 in the first quarter as Jayse Lawrence threw a 23-yard touchdown to Ty Nansteel. In the second half, Lawrence made it 28-0 on a touchdown run. Equan Warner scored from 20 yards out in the fourth quarter and Lehighton cruised to the shutout victory.
