Lehigh Valley weather: Showers, thunderstorms with damaging winds, brief tornado possible Thursday

Isolated severe storms with locally heavy rain are possible Thursday in the Lehigh Valley.

There is potential for severe storms and flash flooding between 3 and 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Forecasters said the primary threat from storms would be damaging winds that could cause tree damage and power outages.

The entire region is at a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms and isolated flash flooding. There is also the possibility of a brief tornado Thursday.

Forecasters said between half an inch to an inch of rain could fall, but some areas could get up to 3 inches of localized rain.

A cold front should move the showers and storms out of the area by Friday morning. The rest of the day should be cloudy, with a high of 80 expected. Scattered storms are possible again Saturday and Sunday.

Several rounds of showers and a few thunderstorms will continue to impact the region through Thursday night. Some isolated severe thunderstorms and flash flooding are possible Thursday evening. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out. #PAwx #NJwx #DEwx #MDwx pic.twitter.com/dFcTJXUuwR
