Letters for Oct. 2: Democrats failing to change ways to win voters

Thanks Democrats

A thank you to the Democratic Party seems strange coming from an opposition member. Why such an unusual compliment? The reasons are simple.

When elections are lost steps are taken to figure out why. Curiosity is a driving force to find out why. Then when reasons are known it’s time to change or modify views, policies and beliefs bringing them more in line with more of the voters.

However, after the 2024 elections Democrats failed to follow those post-election procedures. They found a different way of doing things. They’ve convinced themselves after four years of President Joe Biden and Democratic control of the government there is no better way of governing the American people.

They believe President Donald Trump’s win and Republicans winning the Congress was a fluke. Consequently, they’re convinced their policies and style of governing is best for the American people. Therefore there is no reason to change anything they are doing.

Recent ghoulish behavior by some Democrats celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk, a patriotic man of faith, exposed a troubling inhuman faction. These actions have alienated them even further from the general public.

Yet their plan is simply to keep doing what they have been doing. They’re convinced they’re what’s best for Americans and, eventually, ignorant MAGA voters will come to their senses and return them to power. So, Democrats please keep doing what you’ve been doing and see how that works out for you.

Voting

I have voted, for the most part, Republican for over 50 years. I will not vote for a Republican candidate at any level of government again until President Donald Trump is removed from office. The Republican Party today is not the party whose ideas of how the government should operate that I have always supported.

I consider Trump a danger to democracy and to freedom in this country. This convicted criminal has no respect for the rule of law, actively misuses the power of his office for personal vendettas, and for all intents and purposes wants to take over this country and turn it into a dictatorship ruled by him and his handpicked regime. Republicans representatives at all levels are aiding and abetting Trump in this mission. Either actively or passively by refusing to stand against his tyranny in defense of this country’s future.

I am not a Democrat but Republicans must be removed from office since they are no longer defending the public but instead they are vassals to Trump. Democrats are the best hope against Trump. At least they will stand up to him and hopefully prevent him from carrying out his and his rich cronies agenda. It may already be too late.

What the majority of the Supreme Court justices are allowing Trump to do is an abomination of this country’s legal system and I consider them to be downright treasonous, a criminal stain on the post they hold.

Rights

I am sincerely troubled since I heard U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., say that our rights come essentially from government, which is contrary to the tenets enunciated by Thomas Jefferson and other Founding Fathers.

I want to be fact-checked on my statement, because if that is what he said, he has just disassociated himself from the bedrock of our foundation. It seems that ever since Kaine adopted 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s philosophy of government, he has become more and more adoptive of a government foreign to ours. He won reelection by a fairly high margin. I followed that campaign, and never heard such radicalism from him. Please someone ease my troubled mind. I don’t want such a person in our government. Tell me I’m wrong.
