Perhaps the only thing harder than spelling Pen Argyl senior Jakob Pietraszkiewicz’s last name is for a lineman to score a touchdown.
Pietraszkiewicz lived a lineman’s dream in the final moments of last Friday’s game at Tamaqua. With the Green Knights locked in a 6-all tie with the Blue Raiders, the 6-foot-2, 250-pounder intercepted a pass and returned it 58 yards for the game-winning touchdown.
It was a fitting end to a game dominated by defense. The two teams combined for 398 yards of offense and two touchdowns in the season opener.
It was Pietraszkiewicz’s first career touchdown.
There were many other highlight-reel plays and performances in Week 1 in the Colonial-Schuylkill League, including a few more by linemen.
