Longtime incumbent Barry Knight, a Republican, has won House District 98. Knight, 71, who was first elected to the House in 2009, faced Cheryl Bubeck Smith, 63, a Democrat.

On Tuesday night, the Associated Press called the race with Knight receiving 57% of the vote with 96% of votes counted. Bubeck Smith had 43% of the vote.

The district encompasses the southern part of Virginia Beach.

Knight will serve two another two years in the House of Delegates.
