An 18-year-old woman from Georgia is dead and several others are injured after a three-vehicle crash late Thanksgiving Day in Osceola County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
At approximately 11:41 p.m., 2004 Acura MDX, driven by 44-year-old Eddy Edmond from Davenport, was traveling westbound on Poinciana Parkway east of Sienna Boulevard, FHP said. A 2025 Hyundai Tucson, driven by a 34-year-old woman from Kissimmee, was stopped in the westbound lane of Poinciana Parkway ahead of the Acura MDC. A 2015 Ford F-150, driven by 40-year-old man from Apopka, was stopped in the westbound lane ahead of the Hyundai.
FHP said Edmond failed to stop for the stopped Hyundai. As a result, the Acura struck the rear of the Hyundai. This impact caused the Hyundai to overturn and collide with the Ford F-150.
The 34-year-old and 18-year-old women traveling in the Hyundai were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries, FHP said. The 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at Osceola Regional Medical Center. Four other passengers in the vehicle are pending identifications and were also transported.
FHP said the 40-year-old man was not injured and remained on-scene.
Edmond was arrested for DUI manslaughter and booked into the Osceola County Jail, FHP said.
This crash remains under investigation.
