A man died after he was found lying on the ground with serious injuries behind a business in Middletown early Tuesday morning, police said.
Police officers and EMS personnel responded to 100 Main St. just after 3:30 a.m. for a report of a man found on the ground behind the business with head injuries and injuries to his extremities, according to the Middletown Police Department.
The man was transported to Middlesex Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the man was allegedly struck by a vehicle. According to police, the driver was cooperating with the investigation.
The identity of the victim was not released at this time, police said.
The investigation is ongoing. Police said it appeared to be an isolated incident with “no threat to public safety.”
