Man indicted after sending threatening text to prosecutor

A man was indicted in federal court on Thursday after allegedly sending a threatening text to a prosecutor, filings show.

John A. Smriga III, 24, of Lowell, was arrested Sept. 11 in Lake County.

Court records allege he texted an unnamed prosecutor on his personal cell phone.

“Ayo, (Prosecuting Attorney). we know exactly where you lay your head at. Tomorrow, we rollin’ through to grab what’s yours, so you better be set. Ain’t no playin’ around,” it read.

The attached picture appeared to show several people flashing gang signs, which the FBI agent admitted was probably lifted somewhere online.

A man with the same name and address has an open speeding case in Lake County.
