Police are investigating after a man was hospitalized in a parking lot shooting Tuesday evening in James City County.

Around 7:19 p.m., police were called to the 3900 block of Meadow Grove Way, which is located in the Longhill Grove apartments off Centerville Road, for reports of a parking lot fight that ended in gunfire, according to a news release. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

He was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center, where he was in serious but stable condition, according to the release.

An unidentified suspect fled the scene on foot. The suspect and the victim knew each other, police said. He was described as wearing a mask and camouflage clothing.
