Police are investigating after a man was shot in New Britain on Wednesday.

Officers responded to the area of Osgood Avenue and Corbin Avenue in the evening hours on the report of shots being fired and found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot injury, according to the New Britain Police Department.

The man was conscious and alert and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, police said. His condition was not immediately clear.

Police said the shooting remains under investigation.
