A 35-year-old Bridgeport man was sentenced to 80 years in prison for the murder of a woman and injuries to a man, but an alleged co-conspirator in the shooting remains at large, according to authorities.
Authorities said Terence Gallimore, 35, was sentenced for the 2024 murder of Brandaja Winston, 28, in Bridgeport, and the assault of Davon Taylor, 30, of Bridgeport.
A Superior Court jury in Bridgeport in December found Gallimore guilty of the crimes of murder, first-degree assault, and criminal possession of a firearm.
Authorities said evidence during the trial established that an unidentified male armed with 9mm handgun and Gallimore, armed with an AK-47-style rifle, “opened fire on a small group of people standing on the sidewalk near the intersection of Stratford Avenue and Carroll Avenue in Bridgeport during the early morning hours of August 17, 2024.”
Winston was shot in the head and died at the scene, authorities said. Taylor was hit multiple times and taken to Bridgeport Hospital. Bridgeport police officers found 17 shell casings at the scene. Investigators believe neither victim was the intended target.
The unidentified man remains at-large and the investigation remains open.
Bridgeport officers reportedly found 17 shell casings at the scene, court records show. Investigators believe neither victim was the intended target, authorities said.
Authorities said Winston’s younger sister spoke at the sentencing hearing “eloquently about what the immense loss has meant to her and her family.”
“It was not just a life that was lost, but a future, a peace, a dream,” she said.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Elizabeth K. Moran, with assistance from Inspector Edward Zack, and Paralegal Specialist Iris Villanueva.
“This case represents the continuing effort of this office, together with our law enforcement partners, to end the scourge of gun violence in the city of Bridgeport,” State’s Attorney, Joseph T. Corradino said. “I commend Ms. Moran and the entire team for their outstanding effort.”
