Mingus Reedus, son of ‘Walking Dead’ star Norman Reedus, appears virtually in court in assault case

Mingus Reedus, the son of “Walking Dead” star Norman Reedus, made a virtual appearance Tuesday morning at Manhattan Criminal Court in his assault case in which he’s accused of trying to choke a 33-year-old woman in Chelsea.

The 25-year-old model, who is charged with assault and criminal obstruction of breathing, discussed with Judge Michelle Weber the terms of extending the full order of protection that was issued at his arraignment and restricts him from contact with the victim, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said.

Early Saturday morning, cops responding to a 911 call of an assault around 8:40 a.m. at W. 16th St. and Eighth Ave. found a woman with minor injuries to her neck and legs. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

In a complaint, Reedus was accused of “recklessly” injuring the woman, causing “physical injury… with intent to impede the normal breathing and circulation of the blood” by applying “pressure on the throat and neck” and had “struck, shoved, kicked and otherwise subjected another person to physical contact.. with intent to harass, annoy and alarm…”

The complaint determined another person “observed the defendant use both of his hands to apply pressure (to the victim’s) neck by forcefully squeezing it” and “observed the defendant strike her about her right leg with a closed fist and then use both hands to throw her on the ground, causing bruising, redness and substantial pain to her right leg.”

Reedus was released on his own recognizance after his arraignment on Sunday but was scheduled to make more court appearances. Reedus’ next court date is scheduled for Oct. 8.
