A man was airlifted to the hospital after being seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding veered off the road and crashed in Torrington on Thursday morning.
The crash occurred on South Main Street near Vista Drive shortly before 7:15 a.m., according to Sgt. Kyle Johnson of the Torrington Police Department.
When officers responded to the area they found a 30-year-old Torrington man who suffered “significant injuries,” Johnson said. He was taken via Life Star to Hartford Hospital. His condition was not immediately clear.
According to Johnson, the motorcycle was being driven south on South Main Street when the driver of a Mack Granite truck that is used to haul trash turned off of Vista Drive and onto South Main Street heading south. The motorcycle then veered to the left and off the road as the driver lost control of the bike and crashed, Johnson said.
The driver of the truck has been cooperative with police, according to Johnson.
South Main Street was closed for several hours between Bogue Road and Vista Drive while the Torrington Accident Investigation Team was at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed, Johnson said. Anyone with information has been asked to contact Torrington police at 860-489-2000.
