Motorcyclist killed in CT crash with vehicle operated by a 16-year-old

A man died following a crash on Route 6 in Brooklyn, Connecticut on Saturday afternoon, police said.

According to Connecticut State Police, a Jeep was traveling eastbound on Route 6 and attempted to turn into the driveway of the Walmart store, located at 450 Providence Road. The Jeep struck a motorcycle operated by 63-year-old Edward Sabourin of Dayville, who had been driving westbound.

Sabourin sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

The four people in the Jeep were not injured. All were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to Connecticut State Police. The Jeep was being operated by a 16-year-old, according to state police. There also were three adults in the Jeep.

The crash, which happened shortly before 2:30 p.m., remains under investigation. Any witnesses are asked to contact Troop D at (860) 779-4900.
