Motorcyclist seriously injured after colliding with vehicle in Vernon

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash on Hartford Turnpike in Vernon on Monday evening.

Officers responded to the area of Hartford Turnpike and Mount Vernon Drive around 7 p.m. on Monday for a report of a motor vehicle vs. motorcycle collision, according to Lt. Robert Marra of the Vernon Police Department.

Vernon Fire Department and Vernon Ambulance personnel also responded to the scene to provide medical care, Marra said.

The motorcycle operator, identified as an adult man, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital for treatment, according to Marra.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and was cooperating with the investigation, Marra said.

The roadway was closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene, according to Marra.

The crash is being investigated by the Metro Traffic Services Accident Reconstruction Team. No charges have been filed at this time, Marra said.
