A 24-year-old Northampton man who died Wednesday after a crash involving his motorcycle and a motor vehicle has been identified by the Lehigh County coroner’s office.
The Lehigh County coroner’s office on Thursday said Brandon C. Gehris was the operator of a motorcycle involved in the crash around 11 p.m. Tuesday in the area of South Cedar Crest Boulevard and Fish Hatchery Road in Salisbury Township. Gehris was pronounced dead shortly after midnight in the emergency department at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.
Spectator’s Bar & Grille in Kutztown dedicated its Bike Night Wednesday to Gehris, a Kutztown native, saying he “has passed away doing something he loved dearly.” Donations were being accepted for his family to cover funeral costs.
Salisbury Township police said in a news release that they responded to the area at 11:14 p.m., where they found a 2019 Nissan Sentra and a 2011 Yamaha R6 motorcycle with “extensive damage.” Gehris had been wearing a helmet, according to Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio, and died of multiple blunt force injuries.
The driver of the Nissan, a 28-year-old Salisbury Township resident, was not injured, police said.
Salisbury police, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office and the Lehigh County Crash Team are investigating.
