Motorhome vs. SUV crash on US 27 kills child, leaves 13 others in critical condition, FHP says

One child is dead and 13 others received critical injuries after a crash between a motorhome and an SUV in Marion County on Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened 5:45 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 27 and County Road 316 south of Williston, according to an FHP report.

The motorhome traveling with 15 occupants from Springfield, Ohio was headed south on US 27 while an SUV driven by a 25-year-old Old Town woman was traveling west on CR 316.

The two vehicles collided causing the motorhome to overturn.

A 5-year-old boy in the motorhome was pronounced dead at the scene. Twelve other motorhome passengers were transported to area hospitals with critical injuries.

The driver of the SUV was also transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.

The driver of the motorhome, a 59-year-old woman, and one adult passenger received minor injuries.
