Multiple people were taken to the hospital when a passenger bus caught fire on Interstate 95 in Darien on Sunday.
Emergency crews responded to a report of the bus fire just after 1 p.m. on I-95 North in the area of Exit 11, according to Connecticut State Police and the Noroton Heights Fire Department.
The bus was evacuated as fire crews worked to put out the blaze.
According to Darien First Selectman Jon E. Zagrodzky, more than 50 people were on the bus as it was evacuated during a major winter snowstorm. Each person was evaluated and either treated at the scene or taken to a hospital, Zagrodzky said.
It was not immediately clear how many people were taken to a hospital. State police said only minor injuries were reported.
The passengers were sheltered until they could be boarded onto another bus that took them to Fall River, Massachusetts, according to Zagrodzky.
The fire left the highway shut down as crews were at the scene.
