Narcotics tips lead to arrest of two brothers and seizure of fentanyl, crack cocaine in Willimantic

A motor vehicle stop conducted in response to a number of complaints about alleged fentanyl and crack cocaine sales in Willimantic reportedly turned up drugs and a weapon and netted the arrests of two brothers.

The stop was carried out as authorities were conducting surveillance in the area of Friendship Street and Ash Street on Sunday following numerous complaints of alleged drug sales, according to the Willimantic Police Department.

As police conducted the stop, the driver allegedly took off on foot and fled behind a house, disobeying orders from an officer to stop and allegedly ditching fentanyl as he ran, police said. The individual was apprehended after the officer chased him down, according to police.

A passenger in the vehicle was allegedly seen hiding what appeared to be narcotics in the truck bed, according to police. A K-9 unit responded to assist with the investigation, which led to police allegedly seizing 200 bags of fentanyl and a portion of crack cocaine, police said.

Police also alleged that they also found a weapon and seized it, noting that both suspects were convicted felons barred from having a weapon.

Sean Mcnee, 59, was charged with possession with intent to sell, possession of controlled substance (second offense), possession of drug paraphernalia, operation of a drug factory, interfering with police, criminal possession of firearm and tampering with physical evidence. He was expected to appear Monday in Danielson Superior Court.
