Hampton Roads Transit is adding more light rail trips to align with a new Amtrak train schedule beginning Sunday in Norfolk.

On Sundays, two additional westbound light rail trains will depart from Harbor Park Station to accommodate Amtrak passengers arriving at 8:35 p.m. with service toward downtown Norfolk. The Tide departure times are 8:35 p.m. and 8:50 p.m.

Additionally, on Monday through Saturday, a westbound and eastbound train will be added to connect with Amtrak’s 6:14 a.m. Northeast Regional train to Richmond and Washington, D.C. The Tide arrival time is 5:27 a.m.

The extra trains come as Amtrak passengers now have to park across the street from the station to accommodate for casino construction. Shuttle service from the parking lot to the station is available 1 hour prior to train departures.
