New York fugitive wanted on rape, incest charges arrested in CT

A fugitive wanted in New York on rape and incest charges was arrested in Plainfield on Wednesday.

Adisa Charles, 35, was taken into custody after the Broome County Sheriff’s Office contacted officers in Plainfield at 4:23 p.m. and asked them to conduct a check for him at Western Express Trucking at 1293 Norwich Road, according to Mario A. Arriaga, chief of the Plainfield Police Department.

New York authorities told officers they had an extraditable warrant charging Charles with four felony charges, including three counts of first-degree rape and one count of first-degree incest, Arriaga said. Officers found Charles in a commercial truck and took him into custody, charging him as a fugitive from justice, according to Arriaga.

Charles was held on a $250,000 bond and was expected to face a judge in Danielson Superior Court on Thursday.
