NFL will investigate Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill for abuse allegations

MIAMI GARDENS — The NFL said Wednesday it will investigate abuse allegations against Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill made by his estranged wife, Keeta Vaccaro. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ESPN it’s “standard policy” for the league to review such matters.

A court document filed by Vaccaro, and obtained by TMZ, details eight instances of violence against her by Hill during their marriage.

Hill’s attorney, Julius Collins, denied the allegations in a statement he sent to the Sun Sentinel on Wednesday, calling it “an attempt by Ms. Vacarro, her mother and/or her counsel to shake Mr. Hill down.”

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel was asked Wednesday whether he was aware of the allegations, whether other players are aware of the allegations and whether it’s a potential distraction for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.

“I’m aware of it, the organization is,” he said. “We’ve been in communication with the NFL and we’re going to let the process play out. As far as our team’s focus, it is 100% on the Patriots and that’s what it should be, (on) a division opponent and on the heels of an undesirable outing (last week’s 33-8 loss against Indianapolis). We’re firmly there.”

Hill and Vaccaro are in the process of ending their 17-month marriage.

Hill, who usually speaks to the media once a week, hasn’t commented on the situation. It’s believed that Hill’s designated day to talk each week will be Friday, which was the day he spoke last week.

Hill, the team’s leading receiver each of the last three seasons, had four receptions for 40 yards in last week’s season-opening loss against the Colts.
