NORFOLK — A 64-year-old Norfolk man died after being hit Friday by a delivery truck in the 100 block of Rogers Avenue, off of Hampton Boulevard near the naval base, according to Norfolk police.

William L. Clark was pronounced dead at the scene by Norfolk Fire-Rescue personnel. He was identified by police on Sunday.

The crash happened as the delivery driver was attempting to back into a parking lot, according to police. The call for the crash came in shortly after 8 p.m. Friday.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to have been factors in the crash.

No charges have been announced. The Norfolk Police traffic unit is handling the investigation.
