Norfolk’s temporary casino is hiring for November opening

The Interim Gaming Hall, scheduled to open November in Norfolk, is recruiting for employees.

The temporary gaming facility, operated by Boyd Gaming and Pamunkey Indian Tribe, will hire 75 people for a variety of positions, most of which do not require previous experience. On-the-job training will be provided. Full- and part-time opportunities include security officers, cage cashiers, slot attendants, surveillance supervisor and revenue audit clerk.

The jobs will transition to the adjacent planned permanent casino, which is expected to open next to Harbor Park in late 2027. The $750 million yet-to-be-branded resort will feature a 65,000-square-foot casino, 200-room hotel, eight food and beverage outlets, live entertainment and an outdoor amenity deck. It’s expected to employ roughly 850 people.

The Interim is expected to have 130 slot machines and a small selection of food and beverages with initial hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.

Ron Bailey, vice president and general manager of the Norfolk casino, said in a release the company offers competitive pay and benefits and is seeking people who want to grow with it.
