Days after he endorsed Abigail Spanberger to be Virginia’s next governor, the democratic nominee’s campaign announced former President Barack Obama is joining her for an upcoming rally in Norfolk.
The rally, the location of which has not been announced, will be held Nov. 1, just days before Election Day. The Spanberger campaign said the rally will “make clear the stakes” for upcoming voters.
Obama last campaigned in Hampton Roads in 2012, when he visited Virginia Beach and Hampton, among other local stops that year.

Spanberger faces Republican nominee and sitting Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, who has President Trump’s support.
In his endorsement of Spanberger last week, Obama said Virginia’s elections were “some of the most important in the country this year.”
Early in-person voting is already underway in Virginia where people can also vote by absentee ballot.
