En’Dya Buford scored 19 points and Riley Stack added 16 points and eight rebounds as the Old Dominion women’s basketball team bounced back from a loss to No. 14 Mississippi on Sunday with an 89-68 victory over Indiana State on Monday in the Cherokee (North Carolina) Invitational.
The two-day tournament was at Harrah’s Cherokee Resort in western North Carolina.
Simaru Fields contributed 14 points and Nevaeh Scott had 13 for the Monarchs (8-5), who outrebounded the Sycamores 61-40.
Tierney Kelsey paced Indiana State (4-7) with 21 points.
ODU jumped out to an 18-9 lead after the first quarter and extended the margin to 44-29 at the half. The Monarchs maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half.
Buford added five rebounds and four assists, two steals and a block.
ODU fell 86-57 to Ole Miss on Sunday night.
The Monarchs are off until Jan. 1, when they will host Georgia Southern at 2 p.m.
