One person is dead following a crash in Manchester on Tuesday that involved two drivers and a parked car and may have been caused by a medical emergency, police said.
The crash occurred just before 7:30 a.m. in the area of 186 East Center St. where officers responded on the report of a motor vehicle collision, according to Lt. Nicholas Reinert of the Manchester Police Department.
Reinert said investigators found that an 83-year-old Manchester resident, heading east, struck a parked vehicle located in the eastbound shoulder before colliding with another vehicle traveling east on East Center Street. Preliminary information indicates the elderly driver may have suffered a medical emergency before the initial collision, according to Reinert.
Crews with the Manchester Fire Department responded to the scene and initiated life-saving measures before the driver was taken to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead, Reinert said. The victim has not been identified.
No other injuries were reported.
The crash remains under investigation by the Manchester Police Department Traffic Unit. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the incident is asked to contact Officer Nicholas Sinopoli at 860-533-8620.
