OPD: Son arrested in father’s fatal stabbing after argument

An Orlando man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stabbing his father to death after being turned in to police by a relative, according to the Orlando Police Department.

Christopher Alexander Brown, 32, lived with his father, 59-year-old Henry Brown, and a female relative at their apartment on South Ivey Lane. The female relative later told officers Christopher got into an argument with Henry on Monday because he wanted her and Henry to fight people they didn’t know, according to Christopher’s arrest report. OPD did not specify how the female relative is related to the father and son.

The woman said she went to lay down in her room while the two argued, but not long afterward heard Henry say, “My daughter needs me” before hearing Henry make a noise, which the report notes is believed to be him getting stabbed.

When the woman exited her room, she said she saw Christopher dragging Henry into the living room through the apartment’s front door by his ankles, the report said.

Christopher told her not to call the police and to stay in the apartment. He also told her to tell police that Henry was stabbed by juveniles, according to the report.

The report shows the relative was ultimately able to leave the apartment to seek help, where she flagged down officers who were in the complex for an unrelated incident. When officers contacted her outside the apartment, she told them that Christopher was the one who stabbed Henry, the report said.

An OPD news release and the arrest report say officers responded to the apartment for a reported stabbing, and the news release says Christopher called 911. The report notes Christopher called 911 but provided little information over the phone before hanging up. OPD did not immediately respond Thursday to a request for clarification as to why the report said the officers the woman flagged down were present for an unrelated incident.

After officers arrived, Henry was transported to the hospital, where he died.

The woman told police she had seen Christopher with two large butcher knives and him wiping Henry’s blood off his hands with a white T-shirt and that he had discarded knives by taking them to the back of the apartment building, the report said.

Officers found evidence of a struggle near the apartment entryway, including dried blood and a bloodstained white T-shirt. Butcher knives were located in a kitchen storage rack, but some were missing. A brown leather sheath for a large knife was observed in the rear of the apartment building, aligning with the woman’s statement that Christopher discarded the knives, according to the report.

The report said when Christopher was interviewed by police, he told them he had been concerned for his family’s safety after he was jumped by a group of juveniles at a nearby convenience store a few days prior.

He said he found Henry unresponsive on the ground outside the apartment and dragged him back inside when the female relative walked in from her room. Christopher said he knew who attacked Henry but could not provide any additional information. He was adamant he did not see the attack and was inside the apartment at the time, the report said.

Christopher was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder with a weapon and is in custody at the Orange County Jail.
