Orioles’ No. 4 prospect set to make Triple-A debut with Tides tonight

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Outfielder Enrique Bradfield Jr., ranked the No. 4 Orioles prospect by MLB.com, has been promoted to the Norfolk Tides from Double-A Chesapeake and is set to make his Triple-A debut Tuesday night at Harbor Park.

The Tides will face the Nashville Sounds in a 6:35 p.m. game.

Bradfield, 23, a 2023 first-round draft pick of the Orioles out of Vanderbilt University, hit .269 with two homers, 14 RBIs and 26 stolen bases in 50 games at Chesapeake. He started the season in the Florida Complex League and moved up to High-A Aberdeen after only three games. He played eight games at Aberdeen.

Last season, he spent most of his time at Aberdeen, hitting .267 with three homers, 26 RBIs and 59 steals in 81 games.

Bradfield played in the Futures All-Star Game this summer along with Norfolk teammate Keagan Gillies.

Meanwhile, the Orioles have promoted shortstop Griff O’Ferrall, a former University of Virginia star, to Double-A Chesapeake. He hit .226 with four homers, 38 RBIs and 42 stolen bases in 111 games at High-A Aberdeen this season.

Five W&M games to air on MASN

Five William & Mary home football games will be televised by MASN this season, including Saturday’s home and CAA opener against Maine at 6 p.m.

Other Tribe contests to be broadcast by the network include the Oct. 4 game against North Carolina A&T (3:30 p.m.), the Oct. 18 game against Elon (3:30 p.m.), the Nov. 1 game against Albany (3:30 p.m.) and the Nov. 22 Capital Cup game against Richmond (1 p.m.)

UVA’s Ross gains two ACC awards

University of Virginia wide receiver Cam Ross has been named both the ACC’s Receiver and Specialist of the Week.

Ross totaled an ACC-best 224 all-purpose yards in the Cavaliers’ 48-7 season-opening win over Coastal Carolina. He returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and also had seven receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown. It was his fourth career 100-yard receiving game.

WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Vickers gets pledge from Suffolk’s Williams

First-year Auburn coach Larry Vickers, who guided Norfolk State to unprecedented success, gained a commitment from former Catholic High standout Zaniyah “Zip” Williams.

Williams, a 5-foot-8 guard from Suffolk who’s now with Montverde Academy in Florida, is ranked 93rd among all players in the current senior class by ESPN.

ACC slate revealed

The Atlantic Coast Conference released its 2025-26 women’s basketball conference schedule on Tuesday.

Both Virginia and Virginia Tech will play 18 league games.

The Hokies will open the season Dec. 7 against Duke at home. The Cavaliers will open the same day at Boston College.

UVA and Virginia Tech will square off twice this season: Feb. 1 in Blacksburg and March 1 in Charlottesville.

COLLEGE CROSS COUNTRY

CAA recognizes W&M runners

William & Mary senior Perry Irons and redshirt freshman Caleb Wilcox have been named the CAA Runners of the Week.

Irons finished fourth among 167 runners in the Spider Alumni Open, making her collegiate debut with a time of 13:34.8.

Wilcox placed 15th in a field of 138 runners at the same meet, finishing in a time of 18:35.7.

Both the Tribe men’s and women’s teams placed second in the meet.

VWU’s Brooks earns ODAC honor

Virginia Wesleyan’s Breana Brooks has been named the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week.

She led the Marlins with 16 blocks and added seven digs and 23 kills as the team went 4-0 in their opening weekend.
