A person who had apparently been shot Saturday morning showed up at an area hospital hours later, according to police.
The Hartford Police Department learned that a shooting had taken place when they were notified by the ShotSpotter system of gunfire on Roosevelt Street just after 10 a.m. Saturday, police said.
The officers located evidence of gunfire in the 100 block of Roosevelt Street, police said.
“While on scene, officers developed information that a victim of gunfire fled the area in a white Toyota pick-up truck,” police said in an email. “The pick-up truck was later located, unoccupied, on Cherry Street.”
The officers then did “an extensive canvass for the victim,” police said, and at 4 p.m., the victim arrived at an area hospital, suffering from a non-life threatening graze type of gunshot wound, police said.
Police said the circumstances that precipitated the shooting remain under investigation. The hospital was not named.
Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions responded to the scene and assumed the investigation, police said, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
Anyone with any information regarding the case is asked to call the HPD Tip Line at 860-722-TIPS (8477).
