Police ID man stabbed to death near Hampton Coliseum during Phish concert

HAMPTON — Police have identified a man who was fatally stabbed Friday night in the parking lot of the Hampton Coliseum.

Thousands were present that night at the Hampton Coliseum for a weekend full of shows for the rock and jam band Phish. The stabbing occurred during the concert.

Around 9:30 p.m., police found two men with stab wounds. Brent Buda, a 41-year-old Chesapeake resident, died after arriving at a hospital, according to the Hampton Police Division. Two other people were wounded.

Officers said it was clear that an argument had broken out among several people and had escalated to violence.

All involved parties had been identified by detectives Saturday evening. A suspect was detained shortly after the stabbings.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation and no other details have been released.
