Police investigating nonfatal shooting in downtown area in Bristol

One person was injured in a shooting on Main Street in Bristol on Sunday night.

Officers responded to the area when the shooting was reported just after 10 p.m. and later spoke to the victim at a local hospital, according to Capt. Michael Duval of the Bristol Police Department.

Duval said the victim suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

The police department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded and has assumed the investigation.

“This appears to be an isolated incident with no threat to the general public,” Duval said in a statement issued Monday.

The investigation remains ongoing.
